Just saw new posting in Dr. Goldburg's hometown newspaper. I worked with Dr. Goldburg at his uncle's hometown grocery store, Nelson's Grocery. This was before medical school. We talked and he just wasn't for sure about his future career choice. Even though I was six years younger, Dick (as we knew him then) and I communicated great. I certainly remember that smile and uplifting attitude. I'm glad to see his career choice and dedication has made such a positive impact in his community and the world.
Such a swell guy! If we could all try to be a good neighbor like him, how happy our world would be!
So sorry to learn of Dr. Goldburg passing. What a legacy.

Dr. Goldburg will be missed by many. Such a terrific doctor!!! He took care of my youngest daughter's ear problem. Then many years later, I was his patient and he figured out I had a GERD issue and I had no idea! If you ever saw the picture I made him, I said I had to eat crow because he was so right! Great man as well as a great doctor. He was very gifted. Prayers for his family and many friends.

I was getting ready to visit you all today (Wednesday) and rechecked the time to see I missed by a day. Please accept my apology as well as my condolences.
It was a tremendous pleasure to know Dick and to work with him. He had a big heart and a smile just as big. He loved to tease but could take it as well as he gave!
He will be remembered and missed for all the days of those whose lives he touched.
May God bless your family now and always. --dan

He always had a smile and friendly words for me when I would see him in the hallways. His loss will be greatly felt in our medical community. Dick was one of a kind.......he viewed medicine as a service to humanity and continually made patients of all economic status feel welcome and important in his office. His cheery demeanor made Dick someone well loved in the Grant County community. Marion General Hospital was fortunate to have someone of his intellectual and skill ability working at the hospital. His family added so much to our town. He will be missed.

I worked for Dr. Goldburg when he came to Marion and set up his practice at the Kem View Medical Center in 1973. I had just graduated from high school and this was my first full-time job. I learned so much from Dr G and could not have asked for a better boss. I was always so impressed with his compassion and bedside manner towards his patients.

Jackie and family: I am so deeply sorry for your loss. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Dear Jackie and family,
As you know our families arrived in Marion the same year. For all these years Dick has been a wonderful colleague, friend and neighbor. He was a compassionate physician ,good surgeon and devoted to his patients we referred to each other over the years. A little unknown fact was Dicks love for animals . At one time we had twin fawns in our two back yards . Dick and I kept a bucket of water available for them . Once a blue bird built a nest in his mail box he arranged for his mail to not be delivered to the mail box until after the babies were born and the birds moved out. He was so good to Margies Dad while dad lived with us . We share your grief and you are in our prayers
We will miss him

Our heartfelt condolences to the Goldburg family. It oftentimes is a drag to go to the doctor. But over the years, that was never the case with Doc Goldburg (as my brother and I referred to him) and Dick (as our folks referred to him)! Always greeted with a smiling face and great demeanor--oh and jokes, there were always great jokes. For us, he'll forever be remembered as a great doctor and even more wonderful friend. Like so many, Dr. Goldburg was my doctor when I was little and had to have my adenoids out. Later, he became my daughter's doctor. Dr. Goldburg saved, literally saved my daughter's hearing. It would have taken just one more bad ear infection and her ear drums would have blown. He kept that from happening. He had her scheduled for surgery within a week of his assessment. That's the kind of doctor he was-very dedicated to his patients but outside of the doctor's office he was a very kind man. When my daughter would see him when we'd be out and about on occasion, he always took the time to speak with her and give her one of those infectious smiles. When she was in high school we ran into him, and she was able to tell him that she was accepted to Ball State. Dr. Goldburg praised her for her achievement with such sincerity. My most heartfelt condolences are to his family and close friends and business associates during this sad time. He was truly one in a million.

Doc Goldberg was a sweetheart! He always had a smile on his face and was so down-to-earth. He was a hero to many people in Marion, not just because of his military service, but because he chose this community out of all others to practice his craft. He was a gifted surgeon who gave so much of his time, money, and energy back into the causes he believed in. What a fantastic way to live...and to be remembered. Our love, thoughts, & prayers go out to his family. friends, and to his community which he so loved. Thanks Doc!

Doc was one of the nicest person to walk this earth. It did not make any difference of your age, race, rich or poor. My oldest son Brad Hale was one of his first patients. Brad had ear surgery at 5 days old and had several ear surgeries growing up. When Brad wrestled for Marion High School and won North Central Conference, Their office got the original from CT and framed it and had it is his office. Marion lost a great doctor. Rest in piece. Prayers to all your family.

When I had my second child who also sufferd thru many ear infections and bouts with pneumonia he was my go to Dr. And without fail he healed him as well, what a great loss to our community but heavens gain.
