Earl J. Lanternier, age 81, of Marion, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana.

He was a lifelong resident of Marion.   He was a great father.  He was retired from Essex Group Inc.  He was an avid bowler for decades and was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the Indiana National Guard.

He is survived by a brother, Raymond of Bluffton; sons, James of Converse, Joseph of San Antonio, Texas and Matthew of Iowa City, Iowa; as well as grandchildren, John, Elise, Claire and Paula.

There will be no visitation or funeral services.  Cremation will take place.

Arrangements entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Avenue, Tower Suites, Marion, Indiana 46952.
