Emma Louise (Miles) Burke, age 95, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family.

Emma was born November 16, 1921 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of the late Byron and Violet (Hill) Miles.  She married E. Lavern Burke on August 10, 1943 and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1996.

Emma was a telephone operator for Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 28 years until her retirement in 1979.  She was a member of the Pioneer Faith Evangelical Church, the Telephone Pioneers and the Communications Workers of America.

She is survived by three daughters, Becky (Raymond) Reese of Muncie, Barbara (Jim) Needler of Marion and Terri (Kenny) Atkinson of Marion; sister, Melva (Danny) Miller of Sioux City, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Burke Reese on September 10, 2012 and granddaughter, Kim Schul on January 5, 2015.

Viewing will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 in the funeral home with Reverend Reverend Dean Terrell officiating.

Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
