Agness Darnell Schrader

Agness Darnell (Lee) Schrader, age 66, passed away at home Friday night, Feb. 9. 2018, surrounded by her family.

Darnell was born May 8, 1951, in Marion to the late John and Eileen Lee. She married Stephen Schrader in 1974 in Stateline, Nevada, and they became steadfast soul mates and business partners.

Darnell was a terrific athlete, gardener and cook. She took pride in everything she did and everything her family did.  She and Steve owned and managed Folkie's Tavern since 1978. She was the inspiration and driving force for the operation of a place where people enjoy each other's company and good home cooking. She was fearless in the kitchen and always sought to provide the best product for friends and customers. Every party, every occasion, every season and every cause became her passion for tasteful and thoughtful celebration.

Darnell is survived by her husband,  Stephen; son, Kristopher Schrader (Tiffany Bell); daughter, Sarah (Craig) Persinger; granddaughter, Hayley Schrader (Julian Knight); sister, Nela Hodge; and exchange daughters, Baiba Laus (Latvia),

Yumi Sakamoto (Japan) and Francesca Zentano (Chile).  

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Lee and David Lee.

As per Darnell's wishes, her remains will be cremated and scattered this summer at Lake Webster, a place near and dear to her heart since childhood. The date of this gathering will be announced later.

Arrangements are entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, where guests are invited to gather from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, for a celebration of Darnell's Life.  A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Weisenberger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
