Donald Ernest Allen

Donald Ernest Allen, age 92, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Marion General Hospital.

Don was born on December 4, 1927 in Clay County, Indiana the son of the late Ernest J. “Bud” and Fern K. (Acree) Allen.  He married Jo Ann Young and she preceded him in death on April 21, 1995. 

Don was a graduate of Marion High School in 1946 and then Marion Business College.  He was in business with his brother, Glen L. Allen for 10 years.  He later retired from Grant County Government, where he was a bailiff for Superior Court I for 15 years.  Don also served in the Army and was stationed in Japan for over a year with the Oita Military Government Team.

Don was a member of the Temple Congregational Church in Marion and enjoyed traveling and playing tennis. 

He is survived by a daughter, Vickie A. Davis of Frankton, Indiana; a brother, Philip D. (Carol S.) Allen of Dowagiac, Michigan; sister-in-law, Rhonda Allen of Converse; 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and special family friends, Pam Griffith & family, Sue Ann Stepler & family, Francis Cobb & family, David Owen & family, and Larry Gulley and family.

Don was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard Allen and Glen L. Allen

Graveside Services and Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Arrangements entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
