Betty Lou (Nelson) Hussong

Betty Lou (Nelson) Hussong, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Wesleyan Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion.

A lifelong resident of Marion, Betty was born on June 25, 1931, the daughter of the late Homer and Mabel (Beekman) Nelson.  She married her loving husband Charles F. Hussong on July 26, 1952, and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2016.

Betty was a graduate of Van Buren High School, and Marion Business College.  She was employed at the Chronicle Tribune as a secretary from 1950 to 1953.  She was a member of First Friends Church and the Golden Band Sunday School Class, and served on many committees.  In March 1978, she became the Secretary of First Friends Church, retiring on December 31, 2011.

She is survived by her sons, Ken (Belinda) Hussong of Marion, Gary (Connie) Hussong of Jonesboro, and Brian (Karen) Hussong of Marion; grandchildren, Joseph Hussong, Matt Hussong, Caleb Hussong, Anna Hussong, Gabrielle Smelser, Lori Stefancic and Bradley Feldmeyer; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at First Friends Church, 2211 Wabash Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dwight Elliott officiating.

Burial will follow funeral services in Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Arrangements are entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
