Edna M. Snyder, born on December 11, 1932, in Warsaw, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, in La Fontaine, Indiana. She was 92 years old.
A proud graduate of Warsaw High School, Class of 1950, Edna dedicated her life to service and community engagement. She retired in November 1996 from the VA Medical Center in Marion, Indiana, where her commitment to helping others left a lasting impact. Edna was known for her vibrant spirit and enthusiasm for volunteer work; she joyfully served at Rainbow Christian Camp, the Grant County Treasurer's Office, Cancer Services of Grant County, the Best Years Singers, and participated in the Marion Easter Pageant as part of the Ava Maria chorus.
On May 19, 1957, Edna married Ted Snyder in Warsaw, Indiana. They shared a wonderful life until Ted's passing on December 13, 2009. Edna cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, leaving behind her beloved family. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Stephen) Bendix and Marcia (Pancho) Guenin; her grandchildren, Scott (fiancé Olivia) Bendix, Alec Bendix, and Emily (Joe) Gallmeyer; and one great grandson due in November.
Edna was an active member of Unity Christian Church, where she found joy and friendship within the congregation. She was also a former member of Marion Community Toastmasters, having earned the Distinguished Toastmaster designation, and the Grant County Literacy Council, as well as the Marion Lyric Club.
Her interests were diverse; she found passion in music, reading, and collecting dolls and thimbles. Edna also enjoyed her creative pursuits, such as knitting. Among her proudest accomplishments was traveling to Europe twice with the Sounds of Hope under the direction of Varner Chance, as well as embarking on journeys to Russia, China, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and various cities across the United States.
Edna M. Snyder leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness and dedication to helping others. The family will receive friends during visitation at Unity Christian Church in Marion, Indiana, on October 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by her funeral service at 12:00 PM, concluding at 1:00 PM.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Snyder; her parents, Marvin C. Hankins and Marie (Webber) Hankins; and her siblings, Elva and Kenneth Evans, Clara Mae and Earl Michael, Willard and Isabel Hankins Norman and Martha Hankins.
Edna M. Snyder will forever be remembered for her unwavering spirit, nurturing heart, and the profound impact she made on those who had the privilege of knowing her. For those who wish memorial contributions may be made to Unity Christian Church.
