Eric Kendall Thompson

Eric Kendall Thompson, 57, of Marion, departed this life on August 12, 2025. Eric was born the son of the late Thomas and Willie Mae Thompson on December 11, 1967, in Marion, Indiana.

Eric was baptized at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. As a child and onto young adulthood, Eric enjoyed participating in sports. He played baseball from Little League through high school, where he was a part of the Marion Giants State Championship baseball team in 1984. In 1986, his Senior year, he helped lead the Marion Giants baseball team to another State Championship game where the Giants were State runners-up. Eric also loved the game of football. After graduating high school, he continued his love for football while attending college in Silver City, New Mexico.

Eric joined in union with Genia McKenzie on June 22, 1990. From that union, two sons were born. Eric Kameron and Eli Kendall.

Eric had many hobbies and hidden talents. He enjoyed riding and teaching others how to ride motorcycles. He’s a self-taught musician, playing the piano and guitar. While learning to play, he also taught his granddaughters how to play. He loved cooking, grilling and playing pool. Anything he put his mind to; he achieved with greatness.

Eric worked at Elsa, Atlas Foundry, and Real Alloy where he was still employed.

Eric is survived by his two sons, Eric Kameron Thompson of Chicago, IL, and Eli Kendall Thompson of Marion, IN, three grandchildren Aaliyah, Aaniyah, and Aarmani Thompson, two brothers, Anthony (Virginia) Thompson of Orlando, FL, and Ritchie (Trisha) Thompson, one sister, Cicily (Anthony) Harvey of Marion, IN, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Special friends, Bobby Baity and Mike Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie (Betty Ann) Thompson, Raymond (Ola Mae) Walker, his parents, Thomas and Willie Mae Thompson along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday August 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1204 W. 14th Street, Marion, Indiana 46953. Homegoing service will begin at 12:00 pm. Rev. William Gibson will officiate. Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
