Gene E. Jay, age 86 of Marion passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Marion General Hospital.
Gene was born on August 21, 1934 in Huntington, Indiana the son of the late Marland and Verna (Smith) Jay. He married Doris Black on July 1, 1955, and she survives.
Gene worked as a lineman for Indiana Bell Telephone for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid bowler when he was younger and had bowled a Perfect 300 Game, and received a 300 Ring. He loved old cars and had a 1939 Chevrolet and a 1965 Ford Mustang. He enjoyed going to car shows, especially the James Dean Festival & Ducktail Run.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Jay of Marion; two daughters, Debbie Easterly of Marion and Dawn (Daniel) Luna of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Harold (Virginia) Berry III, Ashley Easterly, Derrick Luna and Casandra Luna; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden Berry and Jenica Berry.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 6:00 p.m.
