Ilse M. Meurs, age 88 of Marion passed away at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Colonial Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Marion.
Ilse was born on August 20, 1933 in Palem Bang, Indonesia the daughter of the late Guustave Arnold Eugene Lapre’ and Petronella Johanna Melsent. She married Henry A. “Hank” Meurs on September 13, 1957, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1998.
Ilse was a Practical Nurse at the Emily Flinn Memorial Home for 14 years and a homemaker. She was a very active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Society. She loved helping with the church auctions and making crafts for the church picnics. She also provided before and after school care at St. Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the General Motors Sympathy Club. Ilse was a volunteer at Marion General Hospital for over 25 years and was a Boy Scout Troup Leader as well for more than 20 years at Sagamore of Kokomo, Indiana. She loved children, helping people, planting flowers, knitting, doing puzzles, reading, was big in to crafts and loved animals especially cats.
She is survived by her son, Michael Meurs.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Mass Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Ted Rothrock officiating.
Burial will follow funeral mass at Garden of Memory Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses for the family.
