John R. Conliff Jr.

John R. Conliff Jr., 71, passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2026, at Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 14, 1954, in Peru, Indiana.

John built a working life marked by dedication and steadiness. He served as a night shift supervisor at CR Metals and also worked as a fork truck operator at Red Gold. Outside of work, he found enjoyment in many interests that reflected both his energy and his loyalty. He was a member of the B2 motorcycle club in Marion, Indiana, and was also involved with Grant County Civil Defense. He was an avid NASCAR fan whose favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Kyle Larson, and he closely followed the NFL, especially the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers. John also played drums, and some of his happiest times were spent with his family, watching westerns, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.

Above all, John will be remembered for the place he held in the lives of those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Linda Lenelle Conliff. He also leaves behind his daughter, Heather Phillips and her fiancé Adam Davenhauer; his son, Kenny Herschberger; and his sisters, Katrina Exmeyer and her husband Gary, and Cynthia Winters and her husband Rick. His love continues through his grandchildren, Kierstin “Princess” Phillips and her fiancé Jason Freeman, Preslynn Herschberger, and Pearson Herschberger. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of time shared, laughter enjoyed, and the comfort of his presence.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Conliff Sr.; his mother, Betty Conliff; his sister, Pamela Trueblood and Sandy Binnion; and his nieces and nephew, Michelle Binnion, Ashley Binnion, and Evan Binnion.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 West Kem Road, Marion, Indiana 46952. Funeral services will be held there on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mike Williams will officiate. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at Converse Cemetery, 8896 West Mier 27, Converse, Indiana 46919.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. The family requests that everyone please wear blue jeans and a comfy shirt in honor of John.
