Judith A. Davis, a devoted homemaker and loving matriarch, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 8, 2025, at the age of 89 in Marion, Indiana. Born on December 7, 1935, in Pierre, South Dakota, she dedicated her life to raising six children, instilling in them the values of family and love that she so cherished.
Throughout her life, Judith was known for her unwavering spirit and her sense of humor. She famously expressed her determination by saying, "If I make it through this, I'll live to be a hundred." This resilience was a hallmark of her personality, showcased in her pride as a grandmother, a role she embraced with joy and enthusiasm.
Judith's love for her family was palpable; she went above and beyond to ensure that every Christmas was special, ensuring that everyone received a gift. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren meant the world to her, and she found boundless joy in nurturing and supporting them.
Throughout her life, Judith was also the wife of a veteran and the mother of a veteran (Wade Oyler), reflecting a deep sense of pride in her family's service.
She is survived by her beloved children, including James (Pam) Oyler, Jay Oyler, Wade Oyler, Deborah Smith, and Barbara Kinzie, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will carry forth her legacy of love. Tyler Oyler, her grandson and best friend, was very dear to her heart and she would smile any time his name was mentioned. Shelby Bartoo, her granddaughter, was her nurse and caregiver in the final months of her life.
Judith is preceded in death by her first husband, John D. Oyler, and her second husband, Verner Davis. She was also preceded in death by her father, H. Fred Lindsay, her mother, Adelaide M. Lindsay, her son, John T. Oyler, and four siblings.
Friends and family are invited to honor Judith’s life at the Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home in Marion, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by the funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM on September 12, 2025.
Judith A. Davis will be remembered for her remarkable strength, unwavering love for her family, and the countless memories she crafted for those who knew her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and resonate through all those whose lives she touched.
