Marilyn Sue Kreider

Marilyn Sue (Marley) Kreider passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, August 4, 2025. She led a life rooted in service, compassion, and intellect - and her legacy lives on through her sons, her students, and the countless lives she touched.

Marilyn was born in Wabash, Indiana on December 3, 1956, to Robert E. And Martha S. Marley. She was raised in Marion, Indiana and was a 1975 graduate of Marion High School.

Marilyn attended Purdue University earning her Bachelor's degree in Clinical and Community Psychology and her Master's degree in Social Work, both with honors. She was a member of PsiChi (Psychology Honorary); the National Association of Social Workers; and the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. 

Marilyn worked in many community and private practice mental health treatment settings for twenty-five years with a very wide range of clients and responsibilities as well as serving as an instructor at Ivy Tech for social work students.

Outside of her professional work, Marilyn developed a special appreciation for Classical Music and the Arts.

In addition to her father Robert and her aunt Mary Louise Cummings, Marilyn was preceded in death by many cousins, aunts and uncles including Cecil Towne, Fern Fairchild and Ethel Keesy. 

Marilyn is survived by her two sons, David and Joel Kreider, and her mother Martha S. Marley.

A visitation is planned for Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 noon at the Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 W Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. The funeral service will follow at noon. Officiated by Tim Purdom, elder of the Woodland Hills Church of Christ, of which Marilyn was a past member.

A private interment is planned at the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
