Roger Michael Hensley was born in Kentucky in 1953, and passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, in Marion, Indiana. He spent many of his years living in the Chicago area where he still has many friends and family and frequently visits for deep dish pizza. Roger Michael wore many hats and went by many names. Depending on what he was doing or who he was with, you called him, Mike, Mikey or Roger. Family just called him Hens.
Roger was a retired truck driver for Jet Express, where he devoted many years of overnight traveling within the Midwest. Roger found pride and camaraderie in his many talents. He was an avid billiard player on a competitive team. Fishing was another of his passions and he participated in numerous Bass Pro tournaments in Michigan, Wisconsin and Alabama, winning a little money along the way. At one point, he loved archery and enjoyed the sport of bow hunting. He had a passion for classic rock music and was a self-taught electric bass guitar player. Most of the time, he enjoyed retelling his stories to family and friends. When you were with Roger, a memory was sure to be made.
Hensley is survived by his beloved wife Susan, along with his brother Tim (Kathy) Hensley, sister Sandy White, sister-in-law Linda (Richard) Quinn, brother-in-law John Wlazlo, and sister-in-law Tricia (Alan) Stocking. He is also remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews and numerous friends, both four-legged and human. They brought him immeasurable happiness throughout his life.
Hensley is preceded in death by his mother Thelma Painter, stepfather Lou Painter, siblings Jamie Hensley, Paulette Garcia, Debbie Dotson, brother-in-law Michael Wlazlo, and mother-in-law Charlene P. Wlazlo.
