Dorothy L. Poling

Dorothy L. Poling, age 97 of Marion passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born April 3, 1923 in West Virginia.  She married Daniel C. Poling on November 8, 1942, and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1999.

Dorothy was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church.  She was a woman of grace and great faith ministering Christ’s love to everyone.  She made sleeping mats for the homeless out of grocery bags.  Dorothy was a very crafty person.   She also made bookmarks out of old cards and homemade Christmas ornaments for her family. 

Dorothy is survived by a son, Donald James (Joylynn) Poling of N. Aurora, Illinois; four daughters, Danella Rose “Nell” Poling of Marion, Delene Marie (Gary) Hostetler of Kokomo, Donna Louise Shaneyfelt of Hartford City and Denise Gail (Nicholas) Harkin of Novato, California; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, William James and John James; and her foster family, Ray and Clara Noggle, Bettie Babb, Shirley Hurd, Bud Noggle, Linda Crouse and John Noggle.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  A Celebration of Life Service will begin at noon with Pastor Gary Bingham officiating. 

Private Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion (Huntington County), Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hillside Wesleyan Church, 2510 S. Home Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953; or the Grant County Rescue Mission, 423 S. Gallatin Street #1937,  Marion, Indiana 46953.
