Edward Riggs Obituary

Edward J. Riggs, age 75 of Marion passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at Wesleyan Heath & Rehabilitation Center in Marion.

Ed was born February 7, 1945 in Marion, Indiana the son of the late William and Lovey (Armfield) Riggs.  Ed married Karen Ring on December 26, 1964, and she survives.   He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm.  Ed was a Deputy for the Grant County Sheriff’s Department for 32 years until his retirement.

Ed was a member of the American Legion Post 10, the Amvets Post 5 and the V.F.W., all of Marion.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Riggs of Marion; two sons, Robert (Daphne) Riggs of Montpelier and John Riggs of Marion; a daughter, JoAnn (David) Hardcastle of Converse; a brother, Robert (Linda) Riggs of Marion; 9 grandchildren, Ryan (Kristy) Riggs, Rachel (Tom) Roush, Brody Hardcastle, Aidan Hardcastle, Ariel Holmes, Levi Jones, Christian Jones, Chasity (Brad) and Caitlyn Jones; two great-grandchildren, Endlsey Rousch and Ryker Holmes; and his pups, Lilly and Piper.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Arrangements entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
