Helen Jean Thompson

Helen Jean Thompson of Marion passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 29, 2021.  She was 95 years old. 

Helen was born February 14, 1926 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of the late Roy and Ruby (Gotschall) Hutchison.  She had a long professional and political career.  Helen retired from the UAW Local 977, served over 20 years on City Council, was a board member of the boys club, a life-long member of Women’s Democrat and a long-time member of ABWA.

Helen leaves her beloved children, Geoff (Lori) Thompson and Kim Thompson; 5 grandchildren one great- granddaughter, Palmer Jenkins and many nieces, nephews and cousins

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruby Hutchison; a brother, Lynn (Nina) and great-granddaughter, Ruby Jenkins. 

Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Hilary Okeke officiating.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952; or to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1385 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952.
