James L. "Jim" Haecker

James L. “Jim” Haecker, age 72 of Marion passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 in his home surrounded by family. 

Jim was born on March 29, 1949 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late Robert and Anna (Lehman) Haecker.  He married Brenda White on May 2, 1970, and she survives. 

He was retired, previously the owner of Quality Discount Carpet in Wabash.  Jim had a lifelong love of Lake Wawasee, where he spent countless summers making memories with friends and family.  He had an enormous love for his wife and family, as well as his four legged friends.  Jim had an encyclopedic knowledge of history, politics and geography, and never missed an opportunity to tell a joke.  He was loved deeply by his friends and family.  

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Haecker of Marion; two sons, Robert “Bobby” (Shanna) Haecker of Arcadia and Benji Haecker of Marion; a daughter, Charity Haecker-Schabo of Marion; a sister, Georgia (Evan Lehman) Cook of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Katie Schabo, Hailey Schabo, Eli Haecker, V. Haecker; and his best friend of 53 years, John Davis.  

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Haecker and brother-in-law, Jerry Cook.   

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on December 12, 2021 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Garden House at Matter Park, with burial at Berne Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.  

Arrangements are entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jim's name to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952.
