John Richard Porter

John Richard Porter, age 50 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Marion General Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born on October 4, 1971 in Marion, Indiana to Allen Porter and Patricia Porter-Pickup.  Before his illness, he was employed at State Plating and Markee Products.  He enjoyed working on cars, spending time on his computer and he loved animals.  John was also an avid Harley Davidson memorabilia collector.  He was a kind hearted, loving person who would do anything he could to help anyone at any time.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.  He is survived by his parents; a daughter, Kelsey; grandchildren, Maci and Carly; a sister, Kim (Roy) Oakes; brothers, James (Jennifer) Bush and Brian Bush; several nieces and nephews and extended family; and the love of his life, Bobbi Knight.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Betty Porter and Ed and Opal Darnell; and his step-father, John Pickup.

The family would sincerely like to extend special thanks to J.C. Porter, Pastor Bruce Koontz, Pastor Matthew Castle, Friendship Baptist Church, Faithful Friends and especially the Critical Care Nurses at Marion General Hospital, and Laura Saunders with Life Stream.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Castle officiating.  Burial will follow funeral services in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.
