Johnny L. Mathias

Johnny L. Mathias, age 75, of Marion went to be with His Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 20, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family.

Johnny was born July 15, 1942 in Marion, Indiana the son of the late John R. and Armilda J. (Hullinger) Mathias.  He married Nancy Raymer on July 28, 1963 and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2010.

Johnny was an Army veteran and was a high lift operator and material handler at Fisher Body (now General Motors) in Marion until his retirement.  He was very creative and enjoyed making things.  He also enjoyed reading biblical philosophy.  He loved taking the grandchildren shopping and spoiling them.  He liked to shop for antiques and knick knacks. 

He is survived by a son, Johnathan Mathias of Marion; two daughters, Lisa Mathias and Cindy Mathias, both of Marion; brother, Robert D. (Janet) Mathias of Converse; sister, Bonnie J. (Jeff) Tinsley of Marion; 10 grandchildren, Desha Richey, Carissa Richey, Joseph Richey, Sharlene Rhodes, William Rangel, Leiana Rangel, Kayla Rangel, Alina Rangel, Alyssa Mathias and Preston Mathias; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard D. Mathias; and two sisters, Betty J. Mathias and Janice D. Brewer.

Friends and family may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. 

Visitation will also be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at Noon on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the funeral home.  Funeral Services will begin at Noon with Pastor Marcus Combs and Pastor Bruce Koontz officiating.

Burial will take place in Enterprise Cemetery, Roann, Indiana immediately following the funeral service.
