Loretta K. Merrill

Loretta K. Merrill, age 67 of Gas City passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in her home.

She was born October 21, 1953 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of the late Howard and Martha (Blackburn) Simmons. 

Loretta married Arthur Merrill on December 10, 1993, and he preceded her in death in 1996.  She had worked at Corey’s and Mrs. Butterworth.     She loved to drink coffee, doing all kinds of crafts, playing board and card games and spending time with her family.

Loretta is survived daughters, Debbie Flynn (William) of Marion, Loretta Shafer (Terry VanHorn) of Gas City, Sandra Haan (Carl Meelker) of Michigan and Denise Cline (Greg) of Michigan; a step-son, Michael Hadley of Michigan; a brother, Howard Simmons (Lisa) of Illinois; sisters, Susan Thomas of Marion, Lisa Harlan (Randy) of Marion, Peggy Uriostegui of Marion, and Lois Bricker of Fairmount; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Loretta was also preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Wayne Reed; a sister, Sarah Simmons; and a grandson, Anthony Reed.

A Celebration of Life Service Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Cremation will take place.
