Ralph Schenk Obituary

Ralph A. Schenk, age 93, of Marion passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Wesleyan Health Care in Marion.

Ralph was born on June 15, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late George Christian Schenk and Katharine (Holoch) Schenk.  They moved to Anderson, Indiana and then to Marion where he graduated from Sweetser High School in 1946.  On June 17, 1950, he married Anna Elizabeth Creviston.

Ralph served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was in the first group of married men from Grant County to be called.  On October 20, 2018, he was able to take the Indy Honor Flight with his son.  He was a member and attended St. John Lutheran Church in Marion as a child and member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Marion.  He enjoyed camping with his family and traveling to Germany to meet his family.  Ralph was a maintenance engineer and project supervisor at Cablec until his retirement in 1992. 

In addition to his wife of 72 years Anna, survivors include: a son, Ralph Dean (Melinda) Schenk of Indianapolis; a sister, Marie Nussmeier of Thousand Oaks, California; grandchildren, Kevin Schenk, Craig (Christina) Schenk of Lexington, Kentucky, Jessica (Greg) Becraft of Lexington, Kentucky, and Erika (Jeff) Rice of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Cooper, Mason, Addyson and Hagen; and nephews, Mark and Bob.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Christian Schenk and granddaughter, Kara (Schenk) McCue.

Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Lette Rogers and James Hillison officiating.  Burial will follow in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion.
