Randall B. Gilbert (Randy), age 65, of Jonesboro, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all, went quietly to his heavenly resting place surrounded by his family after a brave fight with an extended illness on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana

Randall was born August 14, 1956, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Edward and Jenanette (Bass) Gilbert. He married Cyndi Reed on December 23, 1976, and she survives.

Randall attended Mississinewa High School and then enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed at SAC Headquarters Command Post and flew on the Looking Glass Airborne Command Post. He also worked for the Defense Communications Agency. Upon leaving the AF he started his own telecommunications business. Randall was previously very active in the Jonesboro and Fairmount Police departments.

Randall enjoyed NASCAR and traveling to Walt Disney World.

He is survived by his wife, Cyndi (Reed) Gilbert of Jonesboro; sons, Justin Gilbert of Kokomo, Keenan (Melissa) Gilbert of Kokomo, Matthew Gilbert, and Jacob Gilbert of Summitville; a daughter, Brandi (Bo) Knights of Kokomo; a brother, Don (Mary) Gilbert of Jonesboro; a sister, Kathy (Donnie) Franks of Linton; 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Rick (Sandy) Reed, Chris (Crystal) Reed; sister-in-law, Rhonda (Ron) McCown; many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Per Randy’s wishes there will be no funeral services, but a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date to be announced.

Memorial contributions can be made to the National Foundation for Transplants.
