Richard W. Bartel

Richard W. Bartel, age 81 of Marion passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Marion Health, Marion, Indiana.

Richard was born on January 20, 1940 in Marion, Indiana the son of the late Richard O. and Lillian A. (Piper) Bartel.  He married Karen Alexander on June 22, 1967, and she survives.

Richard was a Union Pipefitter for Liniger Company in Marion until his retirement.  He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #166 for 59 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 10 in Marion for 18 years.  He was an avid bass fisherman and loved to fish Diamond Lake.  He loved football and was a loyal Colts fan.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of Marion; sons, Jeff (Melissa) Bartel of Marion, Troy (Camille) Bartel of Ft. Wayne and Kent (Jessica) Bartel of Marion; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Glenn Bartel; and two brothers, David and Gene Bartel.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at Noon with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial will follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sons of American Legion Post 10, 1700 S. Pennsylvania Street, Marion, Indiana 46953.
